The International Master’s Degree Program in Semiconductor Engineering is designed to cultivate next-generation engineers who can excel in the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry. Through MCU’s academic excellence and ASE’s cutting-edge industrial resources, students gain both strong theoretical foundations and hands-on professional experience.

Admission Objectives

Semiconductors are a key strategic industry for the nation. In response to the rapid development of the semiconductor industry and the growing demand for high-level professional talent, the Department of Electrical Engineering at Ming Chuan University, in collaboration with ASE Technology Holding Co., Ltd., has established the International Master Program for Semiconductor Talent Development (New Program Model).
This program emphasizes a balanced integration of theory and practice, providing a professional learning environment closely connected with industry. Its goal is to cultivate semiconductor professionals with strong international competitiveness and to support the sustainable development of Taiwan’s semiconductor, electronics, and information and communications technology (ICT) industries.

The admission objectives of this program are as follows:

  • Strengthening Taiwan’s Semiconductor Competitiveness
    • To cultivate semiconductor professionals with solid technical expertise and an international perspective, thereby enhancing Taiwan’s critical position in the global semiconductor industry chain.
  • Implementing Industry–Academia Collaboration and Integrating Theory with Practice
    • To integrate academic coursework with practical industry training, enabling students to develop both strong theoretical foundations and industry-ready practical skills.
  • Cultivating Innovative and Interdisciplinary Technology Talent
    • To nurture semiconductor professionals with innovative thinking and strong problem-solving abilities, thereby promoting technological innovation and industrial upgrading.
  • Responding to Industry Needs and Alleviating Talent Shortages
    • To address workforce demands in the semiconductor industry by rapidly cultivating and supplying high-quality professional talent to effectively support industrial development.

Curriculum Overview

  1. Professional Course Module:
    • 2 required professional courses (6 credits)
    • At least 4 elective professional courses (12 credits)
  2. Internship Course Module: 6 courses, 18 credits (mainly in the 2nd year), or take up to 18 elective credits as a substitute for the internship.
  3. Master’s Thesis: 0 credits
  4. Mandarin Course Module:
    • 6 hours/week of Mandarin tutoring in the 1st year
    • TOCFL A2 level required before internship eligibility
    • Students with TOCFL B1 or above are exempt
